Donald Trump Wins the Presidency

Donald Trump was elected the 45th president of the United States on Tuesday in a stunning culmination of an explosive campaign. The surprise outcome defied late polls that showed Hillary Clinton with a modest but persistent edge.

We were surprised after we arrived in Peru when we heard Trump was running for President;  a 70 year old real estate developer-turned-reality television star with no government experience, and we were even more surprised when he was chosen as the Republican Candidate.

Living in Peru, we missed a lot of the the campaign madness between Donald and Hillary, for which we are grateful. Now that he is indeed going to be our next President, we will support and pray for him to succeed.  We as Americans need to work together to help "make America great again".

The news has been flooded with pictures but here are a few for us to remember the history  of this event in the years to come.

I like this caricature of Hillary and Donald.

No matter what your approval or disapproval is with the election, having lived in a foreign country for almost 18 months we are so proud to call ourselves Americans and know we live in the greatest country in the world.

I read a quote on Facebook that said, "I hope Donald Trump is a good President.  Wanting him to fail is like wanting the pilot to crash the plane that we are ALL on."

I also like these quotes from President Thomas S. Monson and President James E. Faust.

Let us all dance and be happy that this long-suffering campaign is over.
