Volkswagons

When we were married 45 years ago, Bill had a 1967 green Volkswagon.  We loved that car and have a bit of nostalgia every time we see one. Here in Peru we see them every day. They really keep old cars going for years down here.  When the grandkids were here in August we almost all had bruises on our arms from playing the "Slug Bug" game.  I felt I needed to post some of the the Volkswagons we have encountered during our time in Peru. Some are in mint condition and some appear to be on their last leg.

This post is all about the Bugs.

This Volkswagen belongs to the Quintanilla family.  It can be seen at the temple often. This is their family car.  They have 4 children.  Their oldest son is on a mission and their second son is getting ready to leave on his mission.

Most of these pictures are of just random cars we have seen on the road, in parking lots or at the temple.

This black one belongs to one maintenance workers at the temple.

One of our temple sealers owns this little Herbie car.

This man has had this car for 48 years.  His son had a car accident
and they had to rebuild the front end.

This one is a definite work in progress.  We found it at the zoo in
Huanchaco.

This one used to be a taxi.

These two need a bath!

I found a purple one for my "purple" granddaughter, Hannah.
