On Friday and Saturday we had a busload of people come from a small area in the Jungle. They traveled for 18 hours on the bus. Over 30 came for their own endowments as well as sealings and baptisms. It was exciting to see them in the temple for 2 days. They left after the 3:30 session on Saturday for the 18 hour ride home. They had to raise the money for their trip so don't know when they can return again.
Today we decided to take the 20 minute Taxi ride to go to church in La Esperanza. We attended the La Esperanza Ward. Bill opened this area as a young missionary 50 years ago and started the first branch. Now they have a very large stake that needs to be split and they are one of the strongest stakes in this area.

One of the things we have learned after being here for three weeks, is never to
take a yellow taxi. They are older and mostly rattle traps. The doors in this particular one
could not be opened from the inside. However, sometimes, you don't have a choice.
The driver was 24 and trying to make living. They usually have to buy their own taxis.
It costs about 5-10 Soles to take a taxi which is about $2 to $3.
Bill bought me flowers this week at one of the many flower markets. This one is near the
temple. They cost $3.00. It will be fun to have fresh flowers in the apartment every week.
Last but not least - happenings back home in the States.
