Another Sunday in Trujillo

This Sunday we attended the California Ward in Trujillo. I had to take a picture because I couldn't believe the electrical wiring job around this building. This ward is in one of the more affluent parts of Trujillo.  The sacrament bread is hard rolls.  The priests have a hard time breaking the bread.  My piece was the size of a golf ball.

A lot of the people from the temple attend this ward including the Temple Recorder's family and our only sealer and his wife.  There are also four young, American Missionary sisters in this ward and two American Senior Missionary sisters. I call the latter the Sister Sisters because they really are sisters. The Senior sisters work in the Mission office.  As of this month there are two missions in Trujillo, North and South.

James and Whitney Fenn have been in this ward for the past four years while he has been the Project Manager for the building of the temple.  He is young but did a fantastic job.  This was their last Sunday in Trujillo as their job is finished and they will be heading back to the states.

We actually held a Sunday School class in English with the Fenns and the Sister Sisters.

We can never resist taking a picture of  Primary Children.  All these little "ninos"
are wearing Future Missionary badges.  So cute!

This was the first week I attended Relief Society (Sociedad de Socorro)
instead of  Primary.  I didn't catch much that was going on.  The teacher spoke
very fast and when she asked a question, everyone talked at once.  No one raises their
hands.  Maybe I am more suited for the Primary.
Bill was impressed that there was a basketball court out back.
This is the Sagastigui Family.  Brother Sagastigui and his daughter (in blue), both work in the temple.  They were two of the speakers in Sacrament Meeting along with the High Councilman.  We are really tall people here in Peru!

For our afternoon walk we decided to go check out the Parque Eterno (cemetery and mausoleum) next to the temple.  We can see it from our back balcony.
The Cemetery starts where the trees are.

It is the only other green place we have found, besides the temple grounds, of course.  Most of Trujillo is sand.  They keep it up very well and it really is quite beautiful.

The temple from the Cemetery entrance.

The people here visit and put flowers on the graves every Sunday and holiday.  There are a couple of flower stands outside the gates.
