Huanchaco - Church at the Beach

On Sunday we went to the Huanchaco Ward for church with the Gomez's.  Huanchaco is one of the beach towns about 20 minutes from Trujillo. The Gomez's usually ride the bus to and from church, but as we were waiting for the bus, this "lovely" yellow taxi stopped and wanted to give us a real deal. It was one rough ride!  My body was still vibrating when I got out of the taxi since I was in the middle in the back seat.
Here we are with the Taxi driver.
Notice the mangey little dog on the left.
You will see him again!
The Gomez's with us in front of the church. It is a very
small ward and a small building.  I'm not even sure if it was
built as a chapel by our church. They have no piano or keyboard
so everything is accapella. Sister Gomez leads the singing.  They have
a very small primary and very few youth.
Some of the members walking to church.

Here is a picture of our little friend outside the church.  I took the next picture of the chapel as we walked inside.  Then everywhere we turned we found our little furry friend again.

This is a picture of the Stake Patriarch and look who is sitting on the floor!
The door in the back is always open during meetings so he enters frequently.
Another little dog also came to church but I didn't get a picture of him.
Bill outside the Ward building.
Here are two of the Primary classes.  They were excited to have us visit their classes, especially when we gave them candy.  The Peruvian children are very cute.
The Valiant class.
The CTR (HLJ - Haz lo Justo) class.
We walked a couple of blocks on sand streets to the Plaza de Armas to catch the bus back home.

Every town or city has a Plaza de Armas - the center of the town - no matter how big or small.
Here comes our bus.

A Hospital.
The reed boats.  You can rent them.  Haven't tried that yet. May not.

A bus stop.
A military school
An ice cream man.
