They are here!

The most exciting thing that happened this week was the arrival of our new Temple Missionary Couple, Wayne & Jan Haws from Hooper, Utah.  We are so glad to have them here to join in our mission adventures.  We feel we already know them since we have been emailing the last month or so.  They arrived Saturday morning and will be a great asset to the temple.
I stole their mission picture from their blog.  Such a good looking couple!
Elder Haws served here in Trujillo in the 70's.

Saturday marked our 2 month anniversary for starting our mission.  We decided to celebrate by going back to the Casa Andina Hotel where we stayed when we first arrived in Trujillo. They have a wonderful restaurant and serve some very authentic Peruvian food.

We had one of our favorites, Lomo Saltado with Inca Kola.  Yum!

We also decided to try Ceviche for the first time. The waiter brought
us a small portion.  It is fresh, raw fish cured in citrus juices and spiced with
chilli peppers, onions and cilantro. It is very popular down here but we did
not really care for it. I doubt that we will order it again.
The Hawses went to church with us today. We went to the Trujillo Ward in the Palermo Stake. There were several familiar faces in the congregation.
The Vega Family
Jose, Monica, Axel & Ahman
Axel is 18 and plays the piano for the ward.  She played for the Temple Dedication.
Not many people play the piano down here.  Her brother, Ahman is 15 and plays the
violin for the Primary children to sing.  Their mother wanted them to play instruments
so started them when they were young. The parents are frequent patrons at the temple.
Wayne & Jan Haws
Silvia & Patrick Mangolli
She is originally from Peru and he is from France.  They live in France
but have been here since the Temple Dedication coming to the temple almost
daily.  They will be leaving tomorrow.  A really nice couple and they also speak ENGLISH!
The Mendoza Family.  Sister Mendoza works in the temple with me
and is one of my favorites.  She speaks a little English and is
very sweet and helpful.
The Hartmans and the Hawes with Secundo, Jenny and Blanca Luperdi.
We see them in the temple often.

A Little Back Tracking...........

After we did the 7:30 Missionary session on Monday, we had a short break to walk to the Lamanitas Book Store.  There are no books, so I guess it is really a Mormon Memorabilia store, just a couple of blocks from the temple.  We ran into several missionaries from our session.

Elder Bond & Elder Haacke
Cute Elders!
Could there be anything cuter than this little Peruvian girl walking around the temple.......

Or this little puppy missing his Daddy and Mommy back home in Utah...............

Life is good in Peru & for Max in Providence, Utah!
