Back to La Esperanza & Plaza de Armas

We went back to La Esperanza again this Sunday but to a different ward, Los Robles, and different building. As a reminder, this was the town Bill opened up 50 years ago that is now the biggest stake in the area. This is one of the poorest areas in Trujillo but some of the strongest members.  The ward we attended this Sunday is the biggest ward in the mission.  There were over 300 people in attendance.  This was the first ward we have attended that we did not see any temple workers in attendance.  The Bishopric was excited to see us.  They introduced us from the pulpit, I played the piano and Bill was even asked to talk.  There were four Elders and two Sister Missionaries in this ward.
The four Elders, all from South America
Un perro de Mormon (a Mormon dog).
He likes to come to church each Sunday.
Maybe not too appropriate, but we had to take a quick picture of these Aaronic Priesthood holders.
There were seven Deacons & Teachers, all in white shirts and ties,
and two Priests, both wearing suits.  I don't think you could find a better group in the U.S.
Sandy with a cute group of Young Women.
Bill with three of the Deacons.
As I said earlier, La Esperanza is one of the poorest areas around Trujillo.  When Bill took his parents back to visit his mission the year after he returned home, his Dad told him this was where he became a man.

These pictures show the area around the ward building.

When we returned home after church we found the Temple cat roaming the grounds.

El gato del Templo
(the temple cat)
I had to post one more picture of my cute husband!

As for P-day today, we finally made it to the Plaza de Armas.

                                                      We did a little shopping!

We bought these cute jackets..........
........and this cute little llama.
The Peruvian flag was given to us by our neighbor, DeAnna before we left on our mission.
Sid Johnson from the ward made us the stand for our flag.

We bought flowers, held a puppy and ran into Elders in the mall.............

..................buying very essential items for the week.

Every Monday they wash the whole fence around the temple and scrub and clean the
sidewalks, pathways and benches.

A very pleasant day was had by all.  Now it's back to the temple tomorrow morning at 6:20 AM.  President Casos just called to say we have a special missionary session tomorrow
and he wants us to be the "Oficiantes".  Normally our first session is 9:00 AM.
Should be an interesting start to a new week.
