Busy Week! Easter, Los Cedros

This was Holy Week in Peru.  Many people had time off from work and school so the temple was extremely busy.  On Thursday, three big buses pulled in the parking lot.  We added some extra sessions and had more than 200 youth here for baptisms.  All of the baptismal jumpsuits were used with the laundry backed up all day. We had two special missionary sessions at 7:00 am on Friday and Saturday. We officiated the one on
Saturday morning.

The Bentleys.
They are new missionaries from Layton, Utah. They are serving as MLS
missionaries in Pacasmayo, on the coast, about 2 hours north of Trujillo.  They were
here for a couple of days, doing temple work.

We went to the Los Cedros Ward for Easter Sunday.  It was Fast Sunday here because April 3rd is Stake Conference and April 10th is Election Day.  It is against the law to have any meetings on Election Day so there will be no church that day. There are lots of great people in the Los Cedros Ward and we always feel very welcome there.

Our new Temple Missionaries, Luz & Jose Carlos Guevara attended church with us.
They are a fun couple. Jose Carlos & Bill both bore their testimonies.

The Rodriguez's arriving to church.
He is one of our Sealers and the Stake Patriarch.

Hermanas McCally from Washington & Hermana Peel from Arizona.

A cute little guy in primary.

Elder Guevara, Carlos Rodriquez (Assistant Recorder at the Temple &
Counselor in the Stake Presidency) with his Dad.

Elder Morgan from Washington & Elder Ardaya from Bolivia.

Eduardo Chacon with his mother.
Eduardo is 25 and is an Engineer here in Trujillo.  He met Ashley Brasseaux here
last summer when she was here on an Internship from Utah State.  They fell in love
and got engaged.  He is leaving in 3 weeks to go to Columbia, MO where her family lives.
They will be married in the Nauvoo Temple.
Hermana Schuyler from Arizona & Hermana Wright from Oregon
with a friend. They were dressed like twins today.
Kathy Nonalaya is a temple worker and the ward chorister.  The new
pianist took over playing the piano when Elder Nield went home.

This sweet sister is Genoveva Quinones.  She is not a temple worker but
comes to the temple often. She has had a disabled right arm since she was
a child, but manages very well.  I always like to help her when I am in her sessions
but I think she could really manage on her own.  She is with her nephew,
Kuniyoshi and her granddaughter Kady.
The Hawses went to the California Ward on Sunday where the Leyvas attend.
Sister Leyva made these cute Easter treats and sent one home with them for us.
It was our only Easter treat this year and it was very yummy!

And now for a few odds and ends from this week.
We found these chicken heads and chicken feet in the meat department at Tottus.
We opted not to buy them.
The sugar cane growing in the field across from the Temple.
A sleeping dog.
Back home in Utah, Sadie and Heather are taking a self defense class.
